A Photographers Journey
61Through the Viewfinder
"A photograph is a subjective impression. It is what the photographer sees. No matter how hard we try to get into the skin, into the feeling of the subject or situation, however much we empathize, it is still what we see that comes out in the images, it is our reaction to the subject and in the end, the whole corpus of our work becomes a portrait of ourselves."

My Beginning
I have lived on the East coast and the West coast and I have traveled every where in between both coasts. My travels have also taken me to the beautiful Caribbean waters to the islands of St Thomas, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Cozumel, Belize and Costa Maya.
I began taking digital pictures in July of 2002 after the birth of our second grandson. My husband gave me a quick digital camera operational lesson prior to me boarding my flight. I soon discovered that I really enjoyed digital photography. What started as a hobby has evolved into one of my greatest passions in life. Simply put… I love Photography!
My Journey
I stumbled upon Hub Pages by way of Twitter and decided that I would share my personal photography journey with other amateur/semi professional photographers. I went through a phase of I am "just" an amateur photographer to calling myself a semi professional photographer. I hope that through my sharing that you will be inspired to stay at shaping your craft that lies deep within you.
My Journey
My photography started out as a cool hobby inspired by the mere fact that I could instantly delete a bad photo... no pressure at all! So my great hobby began and before I knew it I became the event photographer for our (large) family. As the unofficial event photographer I felt the pressure to produce a photo of quality and meet that family member’s expectation. As I noticed my intensity for getting a “great photo” rise, I was also aware of the fact that I still loved taking pictures.
I began to hide behind my camera at events and sneak around capturing unsuspecting subjects in the moment. It was capturing an unsuspecting subject that I enjoyed the most and those shots became some of my best photos. Many people were telling me that I had a really great eye for photography and wanted to know what school I had attended...

Great photos!
I like that you call this a journey, since most everything we do is a journey ... or we're standing still. Enjoy exploring the shadows; they, too, are about light.
made me tear up a bit truly a beautiful journey for you
Some good photography here.I like the simplicity of "sheer sunlight".

Okay, I'll be the first to break the ice. Nice images you have here. I like them all and collectively, they work well together, but if they were mine, I think I'd go all monochrome....keeping them all black and white and not using the sepia effect, except that you wanted to do them all in that manner which would work collectively. Nice Job!
